Greenbrier sheriff’s deputy charges man with burglary

The Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department arrested a man for nighttime burglary after he was observed climbing through the rear window of the victim’s apartment at Quinwood apartments Sunday morning.

Cpl. D.J. Hinkley was at the scene investigating a complaint of burglary when Travis Simmons was spotted climbing through the victim’s apartment window at approximately 4:30 a.m. Sunday, according to a provided release.

Hinkley, with the Rupert detachment of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department, arrested Simmons at the scene and some items were recovered, the release said.

Additional individual(s) are suspected to be involved and further arrests may be made, the release added.

Simmons was transported to Southern Regional Jail. Simmons’ bond was set at $30,000.
