Hospice of Southern West Virginia has extended early registration for the “It’s a Hospice Thing” 5K Memorial Walk/Run until July 15.
The run, scheduled July 27 at the YMCA’s Paul Cline Memorial Youth Sports Complex, benefits Hospice.
Serious runners and those who want to memorialize a loved one are welcome to sign up, said Josh Jones, HSWV public relations director.
“HSWV has extended the deadline for 5K early registration an additional week to allow those interested in participating the opportunity to sign up at a discounted rate,” said Jones.
“We hope everyone takes advantage of this window to register early in what will be a truly memorable day.”
The run begins at 9 a.m. with the walk following at 9:10 a.m.
Cost is $20 per registrant up until July 15, when the registration fee will increase to $25 per registrant.
Registration and pledge forms are available online at www.hospiceofsouthernwv.org, or by calling 304-255-6404.
A golf tournament and the area’s first Wing Night will also be part of “It’s a Hospice Thing” this year.
The golf tournament, a four-person scramble with a 9 a.m. shotgun start, will be held at the Brier Patch Golf Links.
The cost is $60 per person and prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place as well as closest to the pin on all par 3s, longest putt and straightest drive.
The Wing Night begins at 5 p.m. on July 27 in the Crossroads Mall parking lot.
Local restaurants will compete to see who has the best wings in Southern West Virginia.
There will be musical entertainment, celebrity wing eating contests, various vendors, a Kids Zone with face painting and inflatable playhouses and more.
Those attending will be able to purchase wings from local restaurants as well as vote for the People’s Choice Award.
Participating restaurants will compete in three wing categories: Mild, hot, and unique.
