BECKLEY — Marquee Cinemas is teaming up with Operation Underdog to host a special premiere party Saturday for the release of Despicable Me 2.

The fun and games are set from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Marquee Cinemas, located at 200 Galleria Place in Beckley.

General Manager Bill Favorite said the event will be a fundraiser for Operation Underdog and a gift basket with movie tickets, DVDs and more will be raffled for a minimum of a $1 donation.

Movie-goers can also meet some furry friends and learn more about pet care, adoption, fostering and spaying and neutering animals.

Favorite said that there will also be a special movie showing for “Down with That,” a Down syndrome family support group.

The showing will be a sensory friendly atmosphere and children with special needs are invited to join in on the fun.

“We’re having an 11 a.m. special showing for them. It’s a regular priced, sensory friendly presentation. We’ve been doing this for several months and the crowds keep getting bigger. It’s usually harder for families with children with disabilities to do, so this is a nice option.”

This event is being sponsored by Beckley Fire Department, 103 CIR, Operation Underdog, Game Stop, McDonald’s, Kroger, The Pottery Place, Jump Kraze, Sweet Frog, The Resort at Glade Springs and The Bake Shoppe.

“We’ve got a lot of people coming and it’s going to be a lot of fun,” Favorite said.
