— Fayette County Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a Meadow Bridge man who reportedly fled from authorities after police discovered a methamphetamine lab at an abandoned building.

Matthew Dale Fox, 43, is wanted in connection with operation of a clandestine meth lab, Sheriff Steve Kessler said Friday.

Kessler said deputies had received a report Tuesday that a meth lab was being operated out of an abandoned building in Meadow Bridge.

When they went to the building to investigate, a man ran away from the property, Kessler said.

Deputies discovered the meth lab inside the structure and later identified Fox. On Thursday, they obtained a warrant for his arrest, Kessler said.

Fox is described as a white male, around 6-foot-1-inch and 200 pounds, with blue eyes and long, dark hair. He has a receding hairline and was last known to live at 8665 Backus Road, Kessler said.

Tips on Fox’s location may be given anonymously at Crime Stoppers (304-255-7867), to the Fayette 911 Center (304-574-3590) or on Facebook at “Fayette County Sheriff’s Department.”

The incident is under investigation by Deputy G.S. Milam.
