Festival of the Rivers continues this weekend

— The 2013 Festival of the Rivers will be Labor Day Weekend at Hinton’s City Sidetrack Park.

A showcase for West Virginia’s Appalachian musicians, primitive and homemade instruments, bluegrass, gospel, folk, rock and R&B music, the festival is sponsored by the State of West Virginia, Summers County and the City of Hinton.

This is the ninth year that the Campbell Flannagan Murrell House Museum has organized the free event, which takes place today and Sunday noon to 10 p.m. An earlier story had given an incorrect closing time.

The waterslide and pool will be open to the public, and vendors will offer food, crafts and other items to festival-goers.

This year’s Saturday night headliner is country musician Matt Stillwell. Other performers include Little Sparrow, Sue Phillips, Shivering Timbers, Bad Magic Numbers, Southern Virtue, Valley Bluegrass, Option 22, Lynn Maddy, Jan Marra, Jeff Furrow, The Cody Perkins Band, and Kathleen Coffee.

The Festival will wrap up with Margo and the Bluegills performing Sunday night.
