Mayor Michael Martin and Peggy M. Dorsey were recognized for their many years of community service during the Sept. 21 Mount Hope Jubilee.
Sandy McIntire, president of the Greater Mount Hope Community Fund, presented the two with plaques honoring their years of outstanding service.
McIntire noted that Martin was voted 2013 Mayor of the Year by the West Virginia Municipal League.
Now in his fourth term, Martin has been instrumental in establishing the Mount Hope Industrial Park, Main Street sidewalk renovation project and demolition of dilapidated buildings. He worked tirelessly with the Boy Scouts of America on the establishment of the Summit
Dorsey, a founding member of the community fund, has served the community as a teacher, community volunteer, church and civic leader. She has served on numerous committees dedicated to improving the community and is a member of the Historic Landmark Commission,
The community fund has an annual tradition of giving awards to those who serve the community. In 2011, the fund recognized Bob Dorado, and in 2012 they recognized the Volunteer Fire Department and the City Water workers for the help they rendered during the summer power outage that year.
