Sentencings are ordered in court

BECKLEY — Raleigh County Circuit Court Judge H.L. Kirkpatrick sentenced one man for felony escape and gave two individuals probation Thursday.

William Phillip Hilton, 34, was housed at the Beckley Correctional Center with work release.

Raleigh County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Andy Dimlich said Hilton altered a work schedule to show he had to work when the business was actually closed that day.

Hilton pleaded guilty to felony escape from the custody of the commissioner of corrections.

Kirkpatrick gave him an additional 60-day sentence to run consecutive to his current sentence. Hilton also lost all time for credit served.

Alaina Marshawn Stump, 28, pleaded guilty to delivery of cocaine, which carries a potential sentence of one to 15 years in the penitentiary.

Stump had no prior felony convictions, so Kirkpatrick suspended her sentenced and placed her on probation for 18 months.

Essex Christopher Spain, 39, of Beckley, pleaded guilty to delivery of lorazepam, a schedule IV controlled substance, which carries a potential sentence of one to three years in the penitentiary.

Spain also had no prior felony convictions, so Kirkpatrick suspended his sentence and placed him on probation for 18 months.
