Two accused of abuse

Two Fayette County men were jailed after they allegedly sexually assaulted a 9-year-old, police said.

Also, one woman was charged after authorities say she failed to report the alleged abuse.

Kevin Allen Chapman, 27, of Ansted, was charged with one count of first-degree sexual assault and one count of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian or custodian, according to Fayette County Sheriff Steve Kessler. Joshua Don Gill, 24, of Victor, was charged with first-degree sexual assault.

Stacey Lynn Chapman, 39, of Ansted, was charged with gross child neglect creating the risk of bodily injury, Kessler said.

Kevin Chapman was being held at Southern Regional Jail on $50,000 bond and Gill on $35,000 bond, Kessler said. Stacey Chapman was released on $5,000 bond.

Kessler said Ansted Police Chief G.R. Treadway filed criminal complaints alleging Kevin Chapman and Gill molested the 9-year-old child in the Ansted area earlier this year. The charge against Stacey Chapman stems from her alleged failure to report the sexual abuse once she knew about it.

Personnel from the sheriff’s department, Ansted P.D., Child Protective Services and the Just for Kids Youth Advocacy Center conducted a joint investigation into the allegations, Kessler said.
