A Virginia man was jailed after an early morning shooting Friday in Beckley, city police said.
Detective Jamie Blume said the incident occurred around 1:45 a.m. when 22-year-old Aaron T. Williams of Bland, Va., brandished a 12-gauge pump action shotgun inside a female acquaintance’s residence on Nebraska Avenue and threatened another man with it.
Blume said Williams then got into a physical altercation with the female acquaintance and the other man attempted to leave in his vehicle.
Williams then allegedly fired three shots at the vehicle, one of which went through the back window and struck the victim in the back of the head, Blume said.
The victim was transported to Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital and was released.
Williams was charged with two counts of wanton endangerment, one count of domestic battery, one count of malicious wounding and one count of felony destruction of property, Blume said.
He was being held at Southern Regional Jail on $250,000 bond.
Police said the incident was domestic-related and alcohol was a key factor.
