— This evening is the time to get a new seat to support your back and bottom while helping the Women’s Resource Center in its fourth annual “Chair-ity Auction.”

And for the first time, tickets to the event will be available at the door beginning at 5:30 p.m. today at the Lewis Automotive showroom.

Tickets to the Chair-ity Auction are $20 each and include a barbecue buffet dinner from 6 to 7 p.m., an auction paddle and soft drinks. Cash, check or credit cards will be accepted as payment. A wine and beer cash bar will also be available.

Bidding for 38 locally painted and uniquely themed chairs begins at 7 p.m. Some of the chairs have legendary actors and actresses on them, while some are nods to popular culture and television shows, such as “Duck Dynasty.”

The Women’s Resource Center serves Fayette, Nicholas, Raleigh and Summers counties by providing crisis shelter and other no-cost, confidential services for victims, survivors and witnesses of domestic and sexual abuse. The Women’s Resource Center is one of the agencies supported by the United Way of Southern West Virginia.
