Police to conduct DUI sobriety checkpoint

FAYETTEVILLE — The Fayetteville Police Department will conduct a DUI sobriety checkpoint between 9 p.m. today and 3 a.m. Tuesday.

The checkpoint will be at W.Va. 16 and Talbert Avenue in the Fayette Heights area.

The purpose of the checkpoint is to deter impaired drivers while educating the public about the dangers of driving while impaired by alcohol and/or drugs. Officers will be looking for impaired drivers, underage drinking, and those driving on suspended or revoked licenses.

The checkpoint is funded by the Southern Regional Highway Safety Program.
