Morgantown to host state’s inaugural tatoo exposition

— The inaugural West Virginia Tattoo Expo is being hosted in Morgantown this weekend.

The three-day event, Oct. 11-13, will have on-site tattooing and piercing from over 100 artists, a host of vendors, a Miss Tattooed West Virginia pageant, and much more.

The expo will be at the Morgantown Event Center, Friday from 2 to 10 p.m., Saturday from noon to 10 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.

The event is open to the public and kids under 12 are free with a paying adult. Day passes are $15, weekend passes are $40 and VIP weekend passes are $55 and include a free T-shirt.

Passes will be discounted $5 for those with student and military IDs.

Blues rock band Matt O’Ree Band will be performing Friday night for the after-party at Schmitt’s Saloon, located at 245 Cheat Road in Morgantown, and American Idol finalist Christian Lopez will perform Saturday night.

Free admission will be given for the after-parties with the West Virginia Tattoo Expo wristband. All others will be $10 per show. Free shuttle service is also included.

Seminars will be available at the expo for an additional charge, and include topics such as tattoo machine mechanics and black tattoos versus color.

Contests will be held throughout the weekend for the best tattoos, such as the best back piece, sleeve and more. Registration for each contest will be $5.
