Two hospitalized after wreck on U.S. 19

Register-Herald Reporter

— Two men were hospitalized after a vehicle accident on U.S. 19, according to Fayette County Sheriff Steve Kessler.

Fayette County 911 Center was notified of a single-vehicle wreck near Glen Jean just before 5 a.m. Saturday.

When deputies arrived on scene, they found a Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck traveling south on U.S. 19 had lost control and rolled several times, coming to rest in the median strip, approximately one mine north of the Glen Jean exit.

Justin Isaac Blankenship, 24, of Widen, was identified as the driver and Joshua James Dancy, 25, of Birch River, was identified as the passenger.

Both men were transported to Charleston Area Medical Center for their injuries.

Blankenship is listed in stable condition and Dancy is listed in critical condition.

No criminal charges have yet been filed in connection with this accident.

The preliminary investigation, however, does indicate that alcohol was a factor in this collision and it is anticipated that charges will be filed against Blankenship early next week, according to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department.

The accident remains under investigation by Deputy L.A. Clay.
