Mountain State University will hold a free college financial aid workshop Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the John W. Eye Conference Center on South Kanawha Street, Beckley.
The workshop is open to all students, regardless of their higher education destination, and to the public.
The workshop will be led by JoAnn Ross, director of financial aid at MSU.
Ross will present an overview of financial aid and outline the steps for completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, commonly known as FAFSA. Other topics include:
— Cost of attendance
— Expected family contributions
— Need-based financial aid
— Sources of financial aid
— Types of financial aid
— Special circumstances
— Satisfactory academic progress.
A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation.
