A Fayette County man is dead after a house fire early Thursday, authorities said.
The victim was identified as Kenneth Neal, 69, of Scarbro.
Sheriff Steve Kessler said a preliminary investigation into the fire, which was reported at 12:34 a.m., indicated no sign of arson, but the cause of the fire had not been determined. Deputy W.K. Willis, the sheriff’s arson investigator, and assistant state fire marshal Tony Domingo were called to the scene for an investigation.
The body was taken to the state medical examiner’s office, Kessler said. Willis and Domingo continue to investigate.
The Mount Hope, Oak Hill and Fayetteville fire departments were dispatched to the scene.
