Raleigh County sheriff’s detectives have charged a Fayette County woman with conspiracy after they say she helped a Hico man plan a bank robbery.
Phyllis Ann Evans, 45, of Beckwith, is charged with conspiracy to commit a felony, said Detective Sgt. Jim Bare. Evans has been held in the Southern Regional Jail since her arrest last Thursday.
Bare said Evans is accused of helping Jimmie Don Smith, 44, of Hico, plan a Nov. 27 robbery at the City National Bank in Beaver. She had allegedly helped him plan the robbery beforehand, and she was not present during the robbery.
Smith was arrested last Wednesday, after he walked into the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department confessed to robbing the bank. He is also in the Southern Regional Jail.
