McDowell woman’s trial on sexual charges slated for February

A federal magistrate scheduled a trial date for a McDowell County woman charged with permitting a minor child in her custody to engage sexually explicit behavior, producing visual depictions of the conduct and sending the materials by mail, computer or other means.

Stacey Nichole Farmer, also known as Stacey Wright, 32, of Cucumber, was named Nov. 3 in a three-count federal indictment. She was also named in a 21-count state indictment returned by a McDowell County grand jury on Oct. 20.

U.S. Magistrate Judge R. Clarke VanDervort scheduled Farmer’s trial for Feb. 2 in Bluefield before U.S. District Judge Irene C. Berger. VanDervort granted the government’s motion for detention and returned Farmer to state custody at Southwestern Regional Jail in Holden.
