The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department was searching for a suspected bank robber Friday evening.
A man wearing a brown, hooded Carhartt jacket, gloves and goggles entered the City National Bank branch in Beaver around 4 p.m., according to Detective Sgt. J.E. Bare.
“The suspect requested cash and left with an undisclosed amount of money,” Bare said. “At this time, we’re not sure how much.”
Bare said no weapon was seen and there were no injuries.
“As far as we know, there was only one individual,” he added. “He fled the bank in a late ’80s to early ’90s model Buick or Oldsmobile with a gold top. The body was pretty much duck-taped and painted black.”
Witnesses said the suspect headed up Airport Road toward Interstate 64.
The suspect was described as a white male in his early 20s and about 6-foot tall.
Anyone with information is urged to call the Raleigh County sheriff’s office at 304-255-9300 or Crime Stoppers at 304-255-7867.
