RAINELLE — The state Fire Marshal’s office says at least six people have been injured in an explosion that leveled a rural Greenbrier County home.
Investigator Brad Hartley says there are conflicting reports about whether anyone else was in the home when it blew up about 7 a.m. Monday. He says that means there may be more victims.
Greenbrier Valley Medical Center spokeswoman Melissa Williams says the victims are being treated for injuries ranging from minor to critical. She says they’re being stabilized and transferred to other hospitals.
Hartley says investigators are at the scene near Rainelle, but hadn’t reported back by late morning.
Fire departments from Rupert, Rainelle, Glenwood, Clintonville and Smoot responded to the explosion and fire.
