A group of children have fun making calendars at St. Francis De Sales Church during an Advent event in its school cafeteria Sunday morning.
“Advent means coming or arrival,” explained Sister Janice. “We’re explaining to families what advent means.”
Children painted ornaments to give as gifts to family members. “We’re trying to help children realize that homemade Christmas gifts are wonderful and appreciated,” Janice said. “And we’re explaining to children how to do little acts of kindness each day during Advent season. We’re not always open to Jesus’ love and acceptance, so Advent practices help the children be more like Jesus, the light of the world.” Families were also taught how to make an Advent wreath for their home.
