Morning fire injures Sophia auto shop owner

A fire Friday morning damaged a Sophia auto shop and injured the owner.

Firefighters were called to AMS Oil about 9:30 a.m. and found the building engulfed in flames.

A neighbor said the owner ran into the burning building. When he came back out “he was burning,” said Gene Blake, who lives across the street.

The fire was under control late Friday morning, but witnesses reported that traffic was being rerouted through the area as debris was blocking the road.
