Two arrested on drug, other charges

Oak Hill police say they found cocaine in plain view when they executed a search warrant early Thursday morning and arrested two people.

Damon L. Luster, 38, of Oak Hill, was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance (cocaine) with intent to deliver and conspiracy to commit a felony, according to Patrolman 1st Class M.J. Jarvis.

Tammy S. Jones, 19, of Oak Hill, was charged with possession of a controlled substance (cocaine) with intent to deliver and conspiracy to commit a felony, Jarvis said.

Both suspects were released on $10,000 bond.

Oak Hill officers and the Fayette County sheriff’s Special Response Team executed the search warrant at Luster’s 306 Broadway Ave. home. Jarvis said police initially executed a warrant for firearms because of an Aug. 2 shooting that took place inside Luster’s house. A Charleston man was charged with the shooting in September.

Police entered the residence and detained both Luster and Jones, Jarvis said. They then found about 4 ounces of cocaine in plain view, as well as digital scales. They immediately stopped and obtained another narcotics-related search warrant. Afterward, they continued searching and found several pieces of drug paraphernalia.

Jarvis said no other firearms were found.
