Wyoming County Schools Superintendent Frank Blackwell was elected chairman of the Concord University Board of Governors during its Nov. 16 meeting.
Blackwell was appointed to the board in February 2008 to fill an unexpired term, then was reappointed Sept. 30 to a new term.
“It is an honor to be elected by my peers,” Blackwell said. “I’m looking forward to working with the board and with president Dr. Greg Aloia for the benefit of Concord University and the students.
“I hope to help Concord University grow, to help improve enrollment and expand the programs of study, renovate some existing facilities and even build some new facilities.
“Concord University is a great institution and I hope we can maintain that status and improve services for our students.
“I will give it my best effort,” he said.
Blackwell began as Wyoming County’s superintendent in 1982 after three years as an assistant superintendent.
He also served a term in the state House of Delegates.
