Beckley Police say citizens have called with multiple sightings of a bank robbery suspect who remains at large.
Remington Alexander Wright, 20, whose last known address was 306 Neville St., Beckley, is charged with bank robbery, said Capt. Jeff Shumate, chief of detectives.
Monday, Shumate said police continue to investigate sighting reports in the Beckley vicinity. Reportedly, Wright has been sighted in convenience stores and restaurants.
Detective Sgt. David Allard said Sunday that one person told authorities Wright was seen at the Harper Road Go-Mart and was getting into a red passenger car. Another person was inside the car, but no description was available of that other person.
Shumate said police are also following up with out-of-state law enforcement agencies. Wright is believed to have ties to Texas.
Police allege Wright entered the Chase bank on Neville Street last Thursday and gave a teller a note demanding money. The teller complied, putting the cash inside a backpack the suspect provided.
Wright is described as a 6-foot-3 black man with a slim build. Police say that at the bank, he wore a bright blue hooded sweatshirt with a black T-shirt over it. He carried a blue and black backpack. He is not believed to own a vehicle.
Allard noted Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards for useful tips.
Those who have information about Wright’s whereabouts are urged to call the Beckley Police Department at 304-256-1708 or Crime Stoppers at 304-255-7867. Crime Stoppers also accepts tips online at www.crimestoppersofraleighco.org.
