Dawn Wells, who played the character Mary Ann on the classic television show “Gilligan’s Island,” will appear next week at the Denver Foundation’s Christmas Wish Celebrity Auction.
The event is scheduled Friday at Gary Bowling’s House of Art, 701 Bland St., Bluefield. Doors open at 6 p.m.
Wells will be available for photos and autographs while the bidding is on for celebrity memorabilia from Jerry West, Chad Pennington, Homer Hickam, Tony Romo, American Idol Taylor Hicks, Brad Paisley, Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Cal Ripkin, The Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus and many more.
Items include an autographed movie poster from the cast of “Twilight.”
Live jazz before and after the auction will be performed by Dr. Jeffrey Greenberg, Bob McGraw and their band.
Food offerings will be provided by Special Touches Cakes and Catering.
Ticket donations are $20 and available at First Community Bank locations.
The Denver Foundation has joined forces with ResCare and together they plan to make a difference in the lives of special needs individuals in West Virginia.
The Denver Foundation’s Christmas Wish Celebrity Auction is presented by ResCare, The Ramsey, Landmark Antiques, The Lewis Agency and Little Buddy Radio.

A fun day at school
Students who participated in a school fundraiser at Cranberry-Prosperity Elementary School sprayed their principal Becky Smith during a hot Friday. Smith was decked out in flippers, goggles and floaties during the fun. Smith paraded past students as they drenched her with water guns.
