Raleigh County sheriff’s deputies say a northbound pickup truck struck a car in southbound traffic, which then struck a third car in northbound traffic.
At 4:25 p.m. Sunday, Ricardo Fleets, 19, of Beaver was driving a 1987 Chevy pickup northbound on U.S. 19 in Daniels, Chief Deputy Dave Stafford said. Fleets came upon a vehicle stopped in the traffic lane, and he could not stop in time.
Fleets swerved into the southbound lane and struck a 2005 Ford F-150 driven by Jason Leonard, 40, of Cool Ridge, Stafford said. Leonard’s truck then spun out of control and struck a northbound 2004 Honda Accord driven by Steven Smith, 34, of Mount Hope.
Leonard and Smith were taken to local hospitals, Stafford said. Fleets was cited for failure to maintain control of a vehicle and driving with a suspended license (administrative reasons).
