Replenished with thousands of additional books, The Register-Herald’s Newspapers in Education book sale kicks back into gear today at Crossroads Mall.
Sales were outstanding last weekend, with half of the approximately 20,000 volumes collected earlier going home with new owners.
The call went out to southern West Virginia readers for more books to supply this weekend’s sale and they responded, filling the newspaper’s lobby with boxes and bags of books.
Hours for the sale are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday in the old Dollar Tree location near Belk.
Books of all genres from bestsellers by James Patterson and Nora Roberts to cookbooks, from romances and thrillers to old textbooks are available at a cost of 50 cents for paperbacks and $1 for hardbacks.
Proceeds from the book sale benefit the Newspaper in Education program, which puts papers in school classrooms to assist teachers with some lessons.
