A Beckley woman convicted of providing morphine pills which resulted in the death of a 21-year-old, was sentenced to one year in prison Monday in Raleigh County Circuit Court.
Donna Sue Underwood’s sentence stems from June 27, 2008, when she provided Ryan Atwood, of Beckley, with a fatal dose of the drug.
Upon completion of her jail term, Judge John Hutchison ordered that Underwood complete five years’ probation for a suspended sentence of one to 15 years for delivery of a controlled substance.

Debra Mae Cozart, 39, of Raleigh, was sentenced to one to three years for attempt to commit a felony, to-wit delivery of a controlled substance.
Cozart pleaded guilty in June to a July 2008 incident during which she made arrangements to provide $150 in marijuana to a confidential informant for Beckley Police.

Kenneth Robert Gremore, 39, of Bluefield, was sentenced to one to five years for conspiracy to acquire money by false pretenses.

Franklin Tyrone Hurtte, 21, of Beckley, received a one-to-15 year suspended sentence with two years’ probation for delivery of cocaine.
