North Carolina man killed in single-vehicle accident

A North Carolina man was killed as the result of a single-car accident near Cyclone early Monday.

David Hearns, 41, of Westfield, was dead at the scene, according to Wyoming County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy C.S. Parker.

Hearns was driving a Mustang convertible, headed north toward Logan County, Parker said.

“He apparently ran off the road and was ejected from the vehicle,” Parker said.

The accident was reported about 2:20 a.m., Parker said.

By the time emergency personnel arrived, the motor was cold, indicating the vehicle had been off the road for some time before it was spotted.

The investigation is continuing.
