Jeffrey Ferguson, 25, of Mead, is charged with grand larceny, felony transfer of stolen property, misdemeanor destruction of property, petit larceny and misdemeanor transfer of stolen property, said State Trooper 1st Class R.A. Daniel of the Beckley detachment. Ferguson was arrested Monday and released on bond.
Daniel said he received a grand larceny complaint from the Daniels-based TWP Enterprise Monday. The timbering business had been working in an area off Coal City Road and Lillybrook Mountain near Josephine.
When employees arrived at 6:30 a.m. Monday, employees discovered heavy-duty batteries had been stolen.
The batteries were worth $1,778, and $1,134.79 in damage was done, Daniel said. The batteries had been sold for $108.72 to the Beckley Garbage Recycling Center in Stanaford and under Ferguson’s name. Daniel said Ferguson admitted to stealing those batteries as well as others from Pocahontas Coal Company property located outside Rhodell. These were sold for $122.42.
