Two people were killed Friday in a head-on collision in Nicholas County, and police said one of the vehicles went through the front of a house after impact.
The Nicholas County Sheriff’s Department identified the victims as Philip David Green, 38, of 2 Elm St., Richwood, and Lewis Earl Legg, 61, of 1776 Lower White Oak Road, Ashford, Boone County.
The sheriff’s office said the accident occurred around 2:40 p.m. on W.Va. 55 in Fenwick, about 3 miles west of Richwood. Green, traveling east in a 2000 Chrysler Concord, crossed the center line and struck Legg’s westbound 2002 Chevy van head-on.
The impact of the collision caused Legg’s vehicle to go over an embankment and through the front of a house owned by Joanne Hammons, the sheriff’s office said.
Both drivers died at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
Deputy R.L. McClung is the investigating officer.
