Alexis Thompson, 10, of Lookout, picks out the pumpkin she plans to carve with her aunt, Dianna Thompson, not pictured, during Saturday’s Burlington United Methodist Family Services’ fourth annual Pumpkin Harvest Festival.
The event is a fundraiser at which attendees can enjoy plenty of outdoor activities, games, contests, food and music.
The festival continues today from 1 to 5 p.m. on the Beckley campus in Prosperity, between Raleigh Mall and the Crossroads Mall.

A fun day at school
Students who participated in a school fundraiser at Cranberry-Prosperity Elementary School sprayed their principal Becky Smith during a hot Friday. Smith was decked out in flippers, goggles and floaties during the fun. Smith paraded past students as they drenched her with water guns.
