Man charged with uncle’s attempted murder
A Summersville man was jailed and charged with attempted murder after police say he shot his uncle in the hand.
Dustin Ryan McClung, 23, of Groves Ford Road, was being held on $50,000 bond at Central Regional Jail in Flatwoods, Nicholas County sheriff’s deputies said.
At 11:30 a.m. Thursday, deputies responded to a “gun call” on Groves Ford Road.
McClung had allegedly shot his uncle, 44-year-old John David McClung, in the hand and fled the scene. The elder McClung lives along that same road.
The younger McClung was arrested after deputies obtained a search warrant for the crime scene, the sheriff’s office said.
John David McClung was treated at Summersville Memorial Hospital and released.
Deputy K.D. Sales is the investigating officer.
