An early morning fire damaged a Soak Creek bar, but firefighters say it is not a total loss.
The fire at the Soggy Bottom Saloon, on Old Route 16 in Soak Creek, was reported at 7 a.m. Monday. Danny Treadway, a lifetime member of the Sophia Area Volunteer Fire Department, said two storage rooms sustained fire damage, and there was smoke and heat damage throughout the building.
The bar is temporarily closed, but it is not considered a total loss, Treadway said.
The fire’s cause is considered electrical right now, but Treadway said state fire marshals will make the final determination. The bar was last open Saturday night.
