— A Beckley couple were transported to a local hospital Sunday evening after being shot, Raleigh County officials reported Monday.

Around 11:55 p.m., according to reports by Beckley Police Chief Timothy Deems and Raleigh emergency dispatchers, 27-year-old Myron Hollaway of 209 Barber Ave. called the Raleigh Emergency Operations Center to report that both he and his girlfriend, 22-year-old Tara Harbin, had been shot while inside their apartment, officials reported.

Police recovered 17 shell casings and found 17 bullet holes in the apartment, said Deems.

None of the other three units in the apartment building had been shot, he added.

Both Harbin and Hollaway were transported to Raleigh General Hospital, where they were treated and released, said Deems.

He added that the couple is cooperating with police, and an investigation to identify suspects and a motive is being conducted.

Those with information may contact Deems at 304-256-1711.
