Fire destroys seven cars on hauler

A tractor-trailer carrying Toyota Camrys caught fire near White Sulphur Springs Wednesday afternoon, causing the eastbound lanes of Interstate 64 to be shut down for four hours.

A Greenbrier County EOC operator said authorities shut down the interstate from the Harts Run exit to the Virginia state line.

The trailer was carrying 10 vehicles, seven of which were destroyed by the fire. The other three sustained smoke damage, Paul Fogus, White Sulphur Spring fire chief, said. The total value of the cars was around $250,000.

No injuries were reported and the fire apparently started in the rear brakes.
