A Mount Hope man was airlifted to a Charleston hospital Sunday afternoon after his motorcycle collided with a minivan, authorities said.
Around 2:20 p.m. Sunday, Joseph Daniel Radford, 30, was driving a 2005 Honda motorcycle north on U.S. 19, according to Deputy J.L. Redden of the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department. Billy Jo Gardner, no age available, of Bradley, was also traveling north on U.S. 19, and she had to stop for traffic backed up at the Maple Fork Road intersection. Traffic was heavier than usual because of road construction.
Radford was unable to stop his motorcycle, and the bike collided with Gardner’s minivan, Redden said.
Radford was airlifted by HealthNet helicopter to Charleston Area Medical Center, Redden said. He was listed as under evaluation Sunday night, according to information from CAMC.
Gardner and the three passengers in her minivan were not injured, Redden said. Gardner was cited for driving with a suspended license.
