Greenbrier County officials have reported another case of a raccoon with rabies.
The raccoon, which tested positive for rabies, was discovered after an encounter with two unvaccinated dogs last weekend.
The infected raccoon was found in the Cornstalk area, near Williamsburg.
Eight cases of rabies in the past four months in the northwestern portion of Greenbrier County have been confirmed, according to registered sanitarian Amanda McMichael.
The cases were all within 14 miles of one another.
The best advice McMichael offered to prevent the spread of the rabies virus into the human population is for pet and livestock owners to keep their animals current on their rabies vaccinations.
