Tuesday’s high temperature ties record high

Tuesday’s high temperature of 69 degrees in Beckley tied a record high set in 2000, according to the National Weather Service.

The above normal temperatures are not expected to last, according to the agency’s forecast.

A cold front will bring showers and the chance of a few storms early today, with drier conditions likely later in the afternoon.

Today’s morning lows could dip into the low 50s, and temperatures will only reach the mid to upper 50s for highs, according to the forecast.

Temperatures will drop slightly below normal on Thursday, as highs will top out in the mid to upper 40s with partly cloudy skies, the forecast predicts.

On Friday, the forecast calls for the chance of rain, especially to the south.

Highs to end the week will remain in the 40s, but by the weekend temperatures should return to close to normal, according to the forecast.

It calls for highs in the upper 40s and low 50s on Saturday and a good chance of rain on Sunday.
