Representatives from Mountain State University, the Beckley Human Rights Commission, Raleigh County Board of Education, Heart of God Ministries and other local organizations announce that a multicultural symposium will be held on the Beckley campus of MSU on Tuesday, Feb. 24.
Dwight Heaster, university representative, says, “Two of our main goals for the symposium are to increase awareness of the diversity in the Beckley area and to create a positive dialogue for learning.”
The community event is slated to begin at 6:30 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m. at the John W. Eye Conference Center. Panelists will include Dr. Hassan Jafray, Hoda Bizri, Sweta Shrestha and Yannick Bitchek. A question and answer session along with learning engagement activities will be part of the agenda, Heaster said.
Following the symposium, refreshments from around the world will be provided courtesy of the National Institute for Culinary Arts at MSU, Heaster added.
