A motorcyclist was killed Thursday when his bike collided with an SUV in Fayette County, police said.
The male motorcyclist’s name was being withheld pending family notification, Cpl. J.L. McGuire of the Oak Hill Police Department said.
Around 4 p.m., a woman driving a Jeep Cherokee tried to turn left from U.S. 19 southbound at the Hilltop exit and collided with the motorcycle that was going north on U.S. 19, McGuire said. The motorcyclist was dead at the scene.
The Cherokee driver was not hurt. Her identity was not available.
The investigation is ongoing and no citations have been issued, McGuire said.
Traffic was backed up about 45 minutes, McGuire said. Both northbound lanes of U.S. 19 were shut down and police were unable to reroute traffic.
