An Oceana man has been charged with grand larceny, eight counts of petit larceny and three counts of tampering with an auto.

Timothy Morgan was charged in connection with a spree of crimes that involved 32 vehicles in the Mullens area of Poplar Street to Parsons Drive over the last weekend in June, according to local Police Chief Ray Toler.

“The incident was drug-related,” Toler said. “The man stated he was high on Xanax and OxyContin.”

Morgan’s bond was set at $100,000 and he was transported to Southern Regional Jail, Toler said, where he remained late Tuesday.

Most of the stolen items have been recovered, Toler said.

Toler and State Police Cpl. Mike Godfrey conducted the investigation.
