City council asked to pass resolution to impeach Bush

Lewisburg resident and political activist Ken Sherman is not a fan of President Bush. So much so, he appeared before the city’s governing body Tuesday night and asked council members to step into the political foray.

“All across the country, city councils are passing resolutions calling for the impeachment of President Bush,” Sherman, who is routinely seen at anti-war rallies in Lewisburg, said. “I would like to ask the city council to pass a resolution calling on Congress to impeach President Bush.”

No council members spoke directly to Sherman’s request, but Mayor John Manchester said the issue could possibly be on a future agenda.

“That would be something if council wanted to bring that up, then one of them would have to ask for it to be put on the agenda,” Manchester said. “You are the first person to approach us on that. If a member of council feels strongly enough about it, then they can put it on the agenda.”

After the meeting, no council members verbally responded to The Register-Herald’s query of whether anyone supported such an agenda item.
