LEWISBURG — Local shoppers hammering for fresh produce grown by area farmers won’t have to wait too much longer. The Lewisburg Farmers Market is scheduled to begin the 2008 season April 26.
The market offers local produce and goods grown in the Greenbrier Valley and surrounding areas, according to a news release by the Greenbrier County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau.
As in the past, shoppers can expect to find honey, jams, eggs, baked goods, herbs, mushrooms and more, along with meat products and hand-crafted items. The market will also host special events and children’s activities such as art exhibits and pumpkin painting competitions until its closing date in October.
On May 10, the market will celebrate Mother’s Day, and children up to 12 years of age are invited to select clay and decorate clay pots with the assistance of the Greenbrier County Master Gardeners and other volunteers. On May 24, a plant sale sponsored by the GVMG will be held.
