CSI Day set for MSU
Crime scene investigation TV shows continue to captivate the public, but Mountain State University is giving the public the chance to see how it’s done in reality.
MSU’s student Forensic Investigation Association will sponsor its second CSI Day from noon to 6 p.m. today on the MSU campus in Beckley. CSI Day is open to the public, and for a $25 fee, participants will gain hands-on experience in crime scene investigation techniques, including fingerprint analysis, anthropology study, tool mark analysis and document analysis.
Participants will also work to solve a mock crime scene.
Proceeds from CSI Day will be used to send forensics students to professional conferences throughout the year.
During CSI Day, MSU will honor Herbert and Karen Atha, owners of Eastern Concrete in Beckley, who recently purchased a vehicle for the forensic investigation program. The vehicle, a 2001 Grumman Olson Workhorse box van, will be used for educational activities and transportation for student groups.
