Man is arrested for allegedly shooting son

A Bolt man has been arrested for allegedly shooting his son, Raleigh County sheriff’s deputies said.

Douglas Roberts, 59, was taken into custody Tuesday, Detective Cpl. Jim Canaday said. Roberts is charged with malicious wounding.

No further details about the arrest were available Tuesday.

Sheriff’s deputies said Roberts shot his son Jody, 34, with a small-caliber handgun last Friday. The younger Roberts was taken to Raleigh General Hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening after the incident at their Gwinn Road home.
