One person was killed Friday in a two-vehicle accident in Nicholas County, authorities said.
The accident on W.Va. 82 in Birch River, near Birch River Elementary School, was reported to the Nicholas County Emergency Operations Center sometime after 5 p.m.
Another motorist drove over a hill to avoid the fatal accident scene, the EOC said. The number of people possibly injured was unknown.
The accident was under investigation by State Police. No further information was available.

A fun day at school
Students who participated in a school fundraiser at Cranberry-Prosperity Elementary School sprayed their principal Becky Smith during a hot Friday. Smith was decked out in flippers, goggles and floaties during the fun. Smith paraded past students as they drenched her with water guns.
