A teenage boy was airlifted to a Charleston hospital after wrecking a dirt bike on a Monroe County paved road, authorities said.
The accident on Hollywood Road, five miles east of Union, was reported to the county’s emergency operations center at 5:23 p.m. Saturday. The victim, a boy estimated to be 13, was airlifted to Charleston Area Medical Center for treatment.
While the boy wore a helmet, the accident took place on a paved, unlined road, the EOC said. The boy is believed to have struck an embankment.
