— The Women’s Resource Center raised approximately $19,000 during the fourth annual Chair-ity Auction Friday.

Dee Sizemore, WRC public relations and fundraising development coordinator, said around 200 tickets were sold and the highest bid went to Aspen Landscaping’s chair for $3,000.

The chair featured a portrait of Marilyn Monroe, painted by Cheryl Shanks. Shanks’ chair has received the highest bid each year of the Chair-ity Auction. Past chairs include “Twilight” and “Harry Potter” themes.

Sizemore said the People’s Choice Award was given to Concord University Beckley Student Service’s chair, which featured the “Walking Dead” cast, painted by Nicole Suptic.
