Preliminary hearings for two men facing multiple charges after allegedly beating up a Beckley woman were held before Raleigh County Magistrate Tomi Peck Wednesday.
Alfred Leslie Pittman, 24, and Damien LaQuan Totten, 21, were arrested in March after allegedly breaking into a Hager Street apartment and beating up a resident in front of her children.
Peck found probable cause in Pittman’s case, which will now go to the grand jury in September. Totten’s attorney was unable to attend the hearing Wednesday, so it must be rescheduled.
The two are accused of robbery, burglary, kidnapping and malicious wounding and are being held at Southern Regional Jail on $500,000 bond each.
Pittman also is facing first degree murder charges for his alleged involvement in the Sept. 26, 2012 shooting of Beckley resident Shawn Rucker.
